We paint both interior and exterior of residential homes, garages, and commercial businesses. Our painting process always starts with having the cleanest worksite that we can have free of flying dust and debris and free of potentially hazardous conditions such as cluttered work areas. We take the same approach on the exterior side of the trade as we do on the interior side. We start with the prep first then we do the painting last. If the prep is doesn’t done right it won’t matter how many coats of paint it has on it. Next, we love to build a relationship with our customers by providing them with the highest quality service that we possibly can, so we love to go above and beyond when it comes to assisting our clients with color choices, walking them through our process and being ready to answer any questions that they may have along the journey. Once the job is complete, we strive to leave it looking more clean than when we first showed up. A Brush Brother job just looks different. It looks like somebody knew what they were doing and cared while doing it.

Our staining process is very similar to our painting process. But before we do anything, the surface must be clean of any dirt and mildew and washed gently to ensure a long lasting coat of stain. Sanding a deck prior to staining can help to achieve a smooth finish also but isn’t always necessary. If there is a deck that hasn’t been cleaned in a really long time then using a brush to agitate the surface will greatly help. Once the substrate is cleaned and dry, we will begin applying whatever stain the customer has chosen or desires. If it is a water-based stain then two coats are generally applied. If it is an oil based stain generally only one coat is used.
Never apply a water based stain over top of an oil based stain.
Never paint a brand new deck. Apply a stain to it instead because stain penetrates the wood while paint sits on the surface
Allow new wood a minimal of 4 months to properly dry before doing anything to it

Preparation is the difference between a professional job done well or one that is subpar and could cost you your reputation. We treat each and every job the same by starting off with covering the floors with builders paper or carpet with plastic carpet film or appropriate drop cloths. We also go around and cover any and all furniture with plastic day 1 on the job. We also cover any objects with tape or masking paper to avoid splatter of paint on anything that would require us to remove the splatter (door knobs, door hinges, towel racks etc). When it comes to the trim pack, we pride ourselves on over filling and sanding flush any and all nail holes as well as imperfections in the trim. We use Sherwin Williams wood filler to achieve this result. Obviously, if you have ever painted before you know how critical it is to having caulk lines that are nice and smooth and not lines that look like that have ridges left behind. We take pride in this step and it’s one of our favorite parts of the prep process. Next, what sets us apart is that we love to prime existed painted surfaces before we put to top coat of color on the walls. A lot of people think that this is an odd step, but we have learned that this step will give you a top notch experience when it comes to true color retention as well as realistic color perception and we prime regardless of how drastic this color change could be. Lighting obviously plays a vital role in the ultimate experience of a color but going from one drastic color to another without priming is always risky business in our experience. We always patch any Sheetrock imperfections and sand them smooth before we apply the topcoats of the desired paint. This is our process to achieve that Brush Brother quality.
